“Forgive me if I don't have all the words. Maybe I can sing it and you'll understand."
- Ella Fitzgerald
A little bit about me:
I have been singing since the age of three. I am a classically trained singer that sings any genre I like. If the song speaks to me, I sing it! Singing has always been a way for me to connect to my truest self. Through singing, I can express feelings in ways that speaking falls short. It is because of this that I keep a connection to the mind and body at the center of my work. As the great Ella Fitzgerald once said "Forgive me if I don't have all the words. Maybe I can sing it and you'll understand." Our bodies and voices are a vessel for self-expression!
Approach:
In my studio, you will learn to master your own unique voice, as well as, how to maintain a healthy vocal instrument. Using my classically trained knowledge, I will help you approach music from a place of accuracy and precision. While as a lover of Jazz, R&B, Pop, and Musical Theater, I will help you approach singing from a place of self-expression and freedom. A great singer learns that both accuracy and vocal freedom are needed to express our feelings through song. Most importantly, you will have fun and laugh at yourself when you make mistakes. Luckily this isn’t brain surgery; if we mess up, it will be ok! Plus, mistakes help us learn!
Technique:
My technique is a mixture of skills I learned while obtaining my Bachelors of Music from New York University, as well as from my continued vocal studies and performance experience.
A few skills we will focus on are:
Breathwork
Ear Training
Vocal Technique (pitch, agility, phrasing)
Connection to Feelings/Story Telling
Positive Affirmations and Self- Talk
Lessons:
Virtual via Zoom or Facetime
In-person lessons for the NYC area
*Proof of vaccination required for in-person lessons
